Young the Giant announced in February 2017 that the band would add to their Home of the Strange Tour with additional shows and friends. The band will play alongside Cold War Kids and Joywave during additional shows that stretch through the end of August.
Young the Giant formed in 2004 and is a California rock band that features Sameer Gadhia on lead vocals; Eric Cannata on guitar; Jacob Tilley and Payam Doostzadeh on bass guitar; and Francois Comtois on the drums.
The band was initially named “The Jakes,” and the band was signed in 2009 by Roadrunner Records.
The band’s studio albums include Young the Giant, Mind over Matter and Home of the Strange. Mind over Matter, released in 2014, was the band’s highest peaking album, hitting the #7 position on the US charts.
Home of the Strange, released in August 2016, hit the #12 position on the US charts. The album spawned several singles, including “Amerika,” “Silvertongue” and “Something to Believe In.” The band has released music videos for both “Something to Believe In” and “Silvertongue.”
Cold War Kids, an Indie rock band from California, also formed in 2004 and features Nathan Willett on vocals, guitar and piano. David Quon lends his vocals as a backing along with his skill on the guitar. Matt Maust is on the bass guitar and Matthew Schwartz takes on several roles, including keyboard, piano, backing vocals and guitar.
The band has released six studio albums, including: Robbers & Cowards (2006), Loyalty to Loyalty (2008), Dear Miss Lonelyhearts (2013), Mine is Yours (2011), Hold My Home (2014)and L.A. Divine (2017).
The band’s Loyalty to Loyalty and Mine is Yours albums both peaked at #21 on the US charts,
Cold War Kids’ most successful singles, include “First” which is RIAA and MC gold certified. “Love is Mystical” hit the #2 position on the US charts.
Joywave is also part of the tour and has been active on the music scene since 2010. The band, from Rochester, New York, features Daniel Armbruster on vocals, Sean Donnelly on bass, Joseph Morinelli on guitar, Paul Brenner on the drums and Benjamin Bailey on keyboard.
The band recently released their second album, Content, on July 28, 2017.
Content has produced several singles, including “Content,” “Shutdown,” “Doubt,” “It’s a Trip!” and “Going to a Place.” The most successful single from the album is “It’s a Trip,” which hit the #33 position on the US Alternative charts.
