Incubus formed in 1991 in Calabasas, California while vocalist Brandon Boyd, Jose Pasillas and Mike Einziger attended high school together. The band has since expanded, but has stayed together, reaching multi-platinum sales and success.
The band’s first two albums were well-received, and include: Fungus Amongus and S.C.I.E.N.C.E. The band’s third album, Make Yourself, proved to be their most successful followed by several additional albums, including Morning View and Light Grenades.
The band’s albums have sold over 23 million copies around the world.
Incubus released their eighth album, titled 8, in 2017, with the band going on a summer tour to promote the album. “Nimble Bastard” is the album’s lead single, which was released on April 21, 2017.
The group announced their single on KROQ, a Los Angeles radio station. The band’s mood seems to be “heavier” in their new album. The band, shortly after, announced that they would be touring with Jimmy Eat World to promote their new album in their Tour 8.
The tour kicked off in Tampa, Florida on July 7 and will run through October, with the final show being played in Morrison, Colorado.
“Nimble Bastard” is a fan favorite, with many fans stating that the single brings the band back to their roots and will hopefully help the group move in the right direction again. Fans have been disappointed in many of the band’s recent singles.
Incubus incorporates several genres into their music, including electro, funk, jazz, hip hop, pop, rap metal, techno and numerous other elements. The band has called their diverse style their greatest asset.
The band says, “We don’t fit anywhere.” Incubus’ different style has kept them out of the top tours, including Warped Tour, Ozzfest and Lollapalooza. The band is also known for incorporating a large array of instruments into their music, including the sitar, bongos, djembe and didgeridoo.
The band’s lyrics have always stood out from similar bands, with the lyrics being more positivewith a more versatile sound than their counterparts.
The summer tour will also have Jimmy Eat World performing. Judah & the Lion will add support, too.
Jimmy Eat World is a band from Mesa, Arizona which formed in 1993 and is considered an alternative rock band. The band has released nine studio albums of their own, with the last album released in October 2016 titled Integrity Blues.
Chase This Light was the band’s most successful album and was released in 2007, reaching number five on the Top 200 charts.
