Matchbox Twenty & Counting Crows: A Brief History of Everything

Matchbox Twenty and the Counting Crows are joining forces on “A Brief History of Everything Tour.“ The two powerhouses will join forces for the one-of-a-kind event that is a co-headline tour.

Matchbox Twenty

Matchbox Twenty formed as an American rock band in 1995 in Orlando, Florida. The band features Rob Thomas as the lead on vocals, Kyle Cook as lead guitar, Brian Yale on bass and Paul Doucette offering his expertise on rhythm guitar and drums, with everyone offering backing vocals but Yale.

Yourself or Someone Like You, the band’s debut album, shot the group to international fame,going 12x Platinum and reaching diamond status in the U.S. The album also reached multi-platinum status around the world, with multi-platinum certification in Australia, Canada and New Zealand.

Mad Season, released four years later, was the band’s second album and reached 4x Platinum in the United States.

The band went on hiatus between 2004 and 2007 and again between 2008 and 2010, leading to their popularity waning in the process.

Matchbox Twenty has won several awards, including two American Music Awards:

The band won the APRA Awards “Most Played Foreign Work” award in 2009 for “All Your Reasons.”

The band has been nominated for four Grammy Awards, but have never won. Their “3 AM” video won a 1998 MTV Video Music Awards, securing the Viewer’s Choice Award. Matchbox Twenty has also won the Favorite Musical Group award at the 2004 People’s Choice Award.

Counting Crows

The Counting Crows formed in Berkeley, California and have been active since 1991. The rock band has Adam Duritz on vocals. The band’s debut album August and Everything After debuted in 1993 and was the band’s road to success.

“Mr. Jones,” a single from the album, helped the band rise in popularity, with the band selling over 20 million albums worldwide.

Somewhere Under Wonderland was the band’s latest album, released in 2014. The album spawned two hit singles “Palisades Park” and “Scarecrow.” The seventh studio album received praise from critics.

The album features nine main songs, with two additional songs added to the Deluxe version of the album.

All of the songs on the album were written by Adam Duritz.

The album reached the #6 position on the U.S. Billboard 200 charts, marking the band’s sixth album to be in the Billboard 200 top 10 charts. The album sold 32,000 copies during its first week’s release.
